NO DOG SHOULD EVER HAVE TO LIVE HALF OF HIS OR HER LIFE BEING TORTURED DAILY IN A RESEARCH LAB.
THIS CUTE COWBOY HAT HIDES THE SCARS FROM A “BRAIN CAP”, A MONSTROUS PIECE OF MACHINERY WHICH WAS SURGICALLY DRILLED THROUGH HIS SKULL AND INSERTED INTO HIS BRAIN. ONCE REMOVED AFTER FOUR YEARS, HIS SKULL WAS NEVER ABLE TO COMPLETELY FUSE BACK TOGETHER.
FOR THOSE FIRST FOUR YEARS OF HIS LIFE, RUDY WAS A PUPPY! BUT HE WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO BE TO PLAY….TO EXPLORE….TO FEEL THE GENTLE KISS, TO RUN IN THE DEW OF THE GRASS….TO HEAR THE WORDS, OR FEEL THE TOUCH FROM A KIND HUMAN BEING. RUDY’S SCARS OF TERROR AND BRAVERY WENT FAR BEYOND BEING SEEN ON THE OUTSIDE….
HE WASN’T LIVING IN THAT RESEARCH LAB….HE WAS SURVIVING…..
UNTIL I WAS THE FORTUNATE ONE TO FIND HIM….THEN WE BEGAN THE JOURNEY OF TEACHING AND HEALING EACH OTHER….
FOR AS LONG AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE….
RUDY CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER AND I WILL CONTINUE TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATE AND MISS HIM EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE SINCE THEN.
I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET BEAUTIFUL, QUIET, GENTLE RUDY WHO CAME SO FAR AND LEARNED HOW TO WALK UP AND DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS, WALK ON A LEASH, MEET AND PLAY WITH OTHER DOGS….BUT ESPECIALLY TO PLAY WITH HUMANS.
AND STILL THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, ON OCCASION WHEN WE WOULD FORGET TO LOCK OUR GATE, RUDY WOULD SNEAK OUT OF OUR YARD ONLY FOR US TO FIND HIM FAST ASLEEP IN OUR NEIGHBOR’S DAFFODIL GARDEN.
WHO WE ARE:
Puppy Dog Ranch speaks for those who have no voice. We rescue the abused, abandoned, forgotten, neglected, and injured dogs living in “kill shelters” or who are deemed “unadoptable” because they are considered to have “special needs” with medical and or emotional challenges and related expenses. We then commit ourselves to loving them, rehabilitating them, socializing them, giving them proper medical care and nutrition and finding each of them their own safe “furever” home. For the lucky other special needs dogs? Well they live here with us, surrounded by love on our beautiful humble 7 acre Sanctuary and home! They may not be perfect….but they’re perfect to us….

We are a registered, licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity recognized and acknowledged by not only the Internal Revenue Service but the United Way.
Your donations to Puppy Dog Ranch are 100% tax deductible! We are funded solely by private donations, money handed to us from strangers on the street, money left at our gate, and the nickels and dimes we find in our pockets at the end of each long, fur-filled day. We are run by a very small ‘pack’ of die-hard, strong-hearted, dedicated volunteers.

Our humble little Ranch is located in Arenas Valley, just outside of Silver City, in southwest New Mexico.

OUR HOURS:
We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm — please make an appointment.
We love visitors and volunteers, but please call ahead as this is also our home.
